For Quake/Quake2 Developers
PakExplorer v1.2 -
A pak file browser for Windows95 and NT which uses an Explorer-style interface. Some of PakExplorer's features include:
- Registers automatically with the shell - open pak files by simply double-clicking on them.
- Supports drag&drop and cut&paste to and from Windows Explorer and between multiple PakExplorer windows.
- Create new pak files using the standard Windows "New" mechanism.
- Rename, move, delete, and restore files and folders within a pak.
- Create new folders and remove any unused space in the pak.
- Sort files by name, size, or type.
- Open files directly from the pak file. Double-click and the file is opened with the program you normally use to view it.
- Play wave files without extracting them using convenient toolbar buttons.
- Right-click context menus provide easy access to most commands.
- Now comes with a convenient uninstall program.
Users of v1.0 should check the Options dialog box for new settings.
PakExplorer is freeware. Download it from here. (84k)
PakExplorer requires the MFC dll's (mfc42.dll and msvcrt.dll) to execute. If you don't have them, you can get them from
here. (605k)
For Quake Players
QStart v1.1 -
A simple Quake front-end for Windows95 and WindowsNT. Qstart does away with the hassle of setting up shortcuts and typing in
command line parameters for every patch and special setting you use. With QStart you can select QuakeC patches, maps, hardware
settings, network options, and config files to use at the command line. Best of all, you can save each configuration using the 'Preset' feature, so you never have to set up a configuration more than once.
QStart also supports winQuake, vQuake, glQuake, and both Mission Packs.
